Olivarez College has been known as one of the ideal schools along Dr. A.rcadio Santos Avenue (Sucat Rd.), Parañaque City. Its philosophy is directed towards responsible service that will significantly contribute towards national development.

The school’s commitment of providing holistic education rest on the realization of the value of integrating the formation of social consciousness in the training and formation of the Olivarians so that they will become not only competent but also socially responsible professional citizens.

The Community Outreach Program (COP) is the response of Olivarez College the prevalent needs of the school and the community. It is important instrument that would link the classroom to the social reality and thus facilitate a more dynamic learning. In the process, the student develops a Christian orientation for his/her chosen profession on viewing it always with reference of love and service for others, especially the needy and the powerless as motivating force. 

Philosophy of the Community Outreach Program

The Olivarez College Community Outreach Program (COP) is concerned with the integrated development of the individual, society and the community as a whole. This office is guided by the belief in the dignity and worth of the individual, his potential and capacity for growth and development for a better life.

It operates on the belief that people should be helped to help themselves; that outside help should be given in such a manner and spirit as to foster self-esteem and develop self-reliance rather than dependency.

Objectives of the Community Outreach Program

Guided by the philosophy of Olivarez College, the Community Outreach Program has the following:

  • To provide members of the community such as assistance that is within the capabilities of Olivarez College in order to meet their physical, psychological, and spiritual needs with a view to prepare them to take fuller responsibility for their own lives and welfare;
  • To take cognizance of the actual situation and needs of  the community;
  • To instill in the student, faculty, staff and parents the deeper sense of service;
  • To promote cleanliness, health and environment awareness in the community;
  • To develop Christian  social values  and social responsibility among Olivarians through the provision of opportunities to:
  • Become aware of the prevalent problems in the adopted community;
  • Participate in planning programs for the community using the assessed needs as basis;
  • Demonstrate a wholesome attitude in implementing outreach projects; and
  • Become directly and intensively involved in outreach projects, thus, realize community involvement as a responsibility.

The Campus Ministry is an apostolate of service to the entire school community by providing care and concern for persons, by proclaiming the gospel and its value, by building and strengthening a community of faith, by celebrating the life of the community specially through the Liturgy.

Goals of the Campus Ministry Program

  1. To facilitate opportunities for spiritual growth through liturgical services, retreats, recollections and prayers;
  2. To help the students and the entire community of Olivarez College realize the value of Christian life through apostolic works and community services;
  3. To inculcate in the minds and hearts of employees and students spiritual and moral values, thus, making them responsible person with a truly Christian outlook in life in building a Christian community inside and outside the school.

The program consists of the following:

The Liturgical Program provides the members of the institution with venues for liturgical worship by organizing, implementing, and centralizing religious activities (Every first Friday of the month and during special occasion).

The Spiritual Formation Program provides avenues to enrich assess and strengthen one’s personal spirituality through retreats, recollections and religious activities.

The Olivarez College Learning Resource Center (OC-LRC) is an integral part of the educational facilities of Olivarez College. It effectively facilitates the flow of knowledge through its academic resources and services, which cover all the curricular offerings and instructional program. It provides and maintains a strong collection to support the instructional, research, and other bibliographical needs of the students and faculty.

Objectives of the Olivarez College Learning Resource Center

The general objectives of the OCLRC are to gather, organize, and provide quality information for the clientele. In this light specific functions are formulated.

The OCLRC is committed to provide an array of tiered services responsive to the needs of the Olivarian community.
Specifically, it aims to:

  • Collect and provide access to a universe of materials which correlate to the curriculum and research of the College;
  • Strive to deploy improved information technologies to support the clientele and staff;
  • Encourage and provide ongoing development opportunities for all library staff;
  • Engage in appropriate partnerships with other units and agencies to reinforce services; and
  • Pursue organizational effectiveness.

Olivarez College’s commitment to the physical development of the students is manifested through the Physical Education Program and the various athletic facilities available for their use (basketball, volleyball, swimming, badminton, lawn tennis, weights room). Collegiate intra and extramural athletics activities are also held. Formation and training programs for varsity players are underway.

  • Multi-Purpose Gymnasium
    Located near the HRM building, the gymnasium has basketball court which can be converted to several playing courts.The capacity of the gymnasium is 2,000 with very spacious bleachers. It has shower room for the male and female athletes. It also houses all P.E. classes in the College and is sometimes used as venue for college program of each college.
  • Indoor Tennis Courts
    Located near Olivarez General Hospital, it has five (5) indoor tennis courts, three (3) shell courts and two (2) hard courts and one (1) outdoor tennis court. Tennis is integrated in the P.E. classes in the college department. It has shower rooms with spacious lockers for male and female athletes.
  • Badminton Courts
    Located at the back of the HRM building, it has fifteen (15) tara-flex courts. Badminton is integrated in the P.E. classes in the college department.
  • Indoor Swimming Pool
    Located next to the College Coliseum, it is a half olympic-size swimming pool and has a capacity of 1,000 with every spacious bleacher. Swimming is integrated in the P.E. classes in the college department. It has shower rooms with spacious lockers for male and female athletes.

  • Coliseum
    Located near the Basic Education building, A state-of the-art coliseum has a capacity of 5,000 with every spacious bleachers. Basketball court is made of wooden floor. It has shower rooms with spacious lockers for male and female athletes. And is sometimes used as venue for special and/or institutional programs of the college.

The Guidance and Testing Center (GTC) operates as a service arm of the school; its services are extended to all members of the school, community, administrators, faculty, personnel, and primarily, the students. Parents and alumni are also assisted.

Specifically, the center seeks to facilitate students’ awareness and understanding of their artistic, emotional, interpersonal, intellectual, political, physical, and spiritual development; helps students cope with their personal, academic, and career needs or problems; assists the school, especially the faculty and administration in improving the learning environment of the institution.

Objectives of the Guidance and Testing Center

  1. To develop among students ability to make intelligent choices;
  2. To guide students in coping with pressures in school and at home;
  3. To provide opportunities for students to gain better understanding of self and life goals;
  4. To effect and sustain responsive interaction of persons and grouped in school;
  5. To help students to become secured, integrated self-directed, and self-sufficient; and
  6. To assist the students in selecting, planning, entering into and making progress in activities suited to their abilities, capabilities, and interests.

Services Offered by the Guidance and Testing Center

  1. Individual Inventory Service – provides up-to-date records of all pertinent information of the students, personal and family background academic, and career concerns.
  2. Information Service – provides important information such as information about a student as revealed by psychological test results and academic records, scholarship grants, occupational opportunities and other information on social, economic and cultural trends.
  3. Testing Service - periodically administers tests to assist the student in understanding one-self interests, aptitudes, personality traits, needs potential career, and job preferences..
  4. Counseling – referred to as the “heart” of the guidance program since the process makes use of all pertinent data about the individual student. This aids the student in making choices leading to self-direction and total growth and development.
  5. Follow-Up Service – gives a systematic check on the achievement according to his capacity after having been given a series of educational tests and counseling interviews.
  6. Placement – provides information on employment opportunities in various fields. Conducts career seminars and lectures to assist students in seeking worthwhile jobs in the areas of interests/specialization.
  7. Research – information and data gathered by the center are utilized in making developmental plans not only for the individual learner but also for the different aspects of the school’s educational system.
