Research Development Office

The Research and Development Office adheres to the philosophy and core values of Olivarian education which foster academic excellence through creative works, discovery, and development of new knowledge, enhancement of the existing body of learning process in educating the mind, body, and soul.

Research in higher education are in the realms of academic and administrative arenas centering itself on the critical, analytical and systematic functions and processes of learning and educating the young minds towards national and socio – economic development. Research, therefore, is a primary tool and instrument of change towards poverty alleviation and a satisfactory way of living.

The Research Director

The Research Director, reporting directly to the Office of the Vice President for Academics and Services, heads the Research and Development Office. The Research and Development Office has a wide scope of management and leadership on the research direction of Olivarez College from planning, organizing, directing, and implementing research and creative works up to the documentation, dissemination and use of research outputs. Specifically, the Research and Development Office has the following functions:

  1. Reviews periodically the appropriateness of research agenda;
  2. Reviews and recommends periodically the policies, guidelines on research and research activities of Olivarez College in accordance with the research agenda;
  3. Approves the appointment of research coordinators who shall act as partners in the realization of research competitiveness in field of specialization in coordination with the Dean of different colleges;
  4. Chairs the Olivarez College Research Council (OCRC) and reviews all proposals for the faculty research, instructional materials, and research incentive program;
  5. Plans, implements, and evaluates research programs of Olivarez College related to biomedical, health related sciences, education, humanity arts and sciences, economics and business;
  6. Monitors the progress of faculty research projects which are submitted by the college research coordinators and submits reports to the Office of the Vice President for Academics and Services
  7. Initiates research colloquium and forum;
  8. Implements the provisions of the research manual and organizes research feasibility studies and concept paper;
  9. Coordinates with Commission of Higher Education Department - Zonal Research Center for continuous collaboration and research exercise
  10. Established linkages with research agencies and institutions, local and international sectors; and
  11. Publishes the following journals: Research Digest,; Faculty Journal, and Graduate School Journal
