STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Cognizant of its responsibility of developing the full potentials of its students, OC encourages the formation of student organizations as effective vehicle for managerial and leadership training. These clubs or organizations must seek to achieve excellence in their work and be committed in actualizing the philosophy of Olivarez College. They must also be formed along social, cultural, religious, literary, educational or recreational purposes.

A. Authority to Operate

Any groups of students may form or join an organization in campus and participate in its activities provided that such formation or affiliations is in accordance with the CHED’s rules and regulations and the policies promulgated by the College through the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). Also, such organization will only be allowed to exist and operate by the College upon the recommendation of the OSA and the respective College Dean and approval by the VP Academics and Services.

B. Supervision of Organization and Activities

The OSA supervises and regulates the operations as well as the activities of all duly recognized student organizations. It is tasked to ensure that all activities are geared towards the realization of the goals and philosophy of Olivarian Education as enunciated by Olivarez College.

  • The duly recognized organization shall submit for approval its yearly program of activities which outlines its plans, and projects before actual implementation.
  • The OSA will meet at least once every semester with the representatives and members of the organization to discuss their objectives, plans, operations, as well as their needs and problems.
  • All student organizations are encouraged to harness the creative potentials of the individual students.
  • All activities are subject to the regulations and approval of the college. Activities which violate any institutional policy and/or rules and regulations directed by the OSA may have their permit subject to revocation.

C. Formation of Clubs/Organizations

Any group of no less than eight (8) or ten (10) students may form an organization provided the following guidelines are as followed:

  • Membership of the group must be bonafide students of OC.
  • The applicants must have presented and submitted the following documents:
    • List of members
    • Constitution and By-Laws
    • A formal letter of applicant addressed to the Dean of Student Affairs properly endorsed by their adviser and respective College Dean.
    • Proposed program of activities with tentative schedule for the entire school year.
    • Financial Status of the organization certified by the adviser and the College Dean.
    • Pledge of compliance with CHED order, college rules and regulations contained in the College Student Handbook governing student organizations.
  • The following guidelines apply to student membership and official positions in clubs/organizations:
    • A student may belong to not more than four (4) organizations.
    • A student may be elected as president/head in only one organization but may also hold minor positions into other organizations.
    • Official positions in every student organizations should not be less than five (5) but not more than (10).
    • Qualifications for officers are as follows:
  • bonafide student of OC
  • a regular student carrying an academic load of not less than 18 units with the exception of a graduating student in his final term
  • must not be under any academic or disciplinary probation
  • must have a GPA at least 2.5 except for freshmen

Any violation of the preceding guidelines will disqualify the student from holding any position in the club/organization.

Organization applying for renewal of recognition must submit the following:

  • Performance report
  • Financial report (if there is any)
  • List of newly elected officers and recommended club moderators.
  • Program of activities

In case of any revision or amendment to the club constitution and by-laws, the OSA should be given the copy of such change condition.

D. Club Moderator (Faculty Adviser)

Each student organization shall have the faculty adviser. The OSA appoints the club moderator upon the recommendation of the organization concerned. Such appointment is subject to confirmation by the respective College Dean. The term of appointment is for one school year and is renewable.

To qualify for the position, the faculty adviser must be:

  • A faculty member of the college department;
  • connected with the particular academic field for co-curricular organizations, knowledgeable or has experience in a particular field for extra-curricular organizations, and
  • a moderator of not more than two (2) organizations.

The faculty adviser is required to:

  • Be available for consultation with all officers and members of the organizations.
  • Attend organizational meetings.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of activities.
  • See to it that the organization conforms to the ideals and principles of OC.
  • Accompany the members in off-campus activities and ensure their safety
  • Endorse all the communication of the group.

LIST OF RECOGNIZED STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

I. CO-CURRICULAR ORGANIZATION

a. College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE)

  • CASE Council

              A co-curricular organization of the College of Arts, Sciences, Education which envisions uniting the different programs under the umbrella of CASE. It further aims to assist its members in addressing their needs and concerns as members of the academic community.

  • Future Mentors Organization (FMO)

              An organization that serves as supplemental arm of the College of education in mobilizing and realizing its goal of producing world-class and holistic future teachers imbued with pedagogical skills and academic excellence in respective areas of specialization in the context of Olivarian philosophy of education.

  • Political and Social Sciences Society (PSSS)

              To foster educational advancement in the field of Political and Social Sciences and assist its students through encouragement in holding and attending fruitful seminars, convocation, and symposiums.

  • Masscomm Organization Vying for Excellence (MOVE)

              To upgrade the quality and standard of MASSCOMM students as well as to develop leadership, talents in acting, broadcasting and newscasting.

  • English Proficiency Society (EPS)
  • Math and Science Society (MASS)

An organization composed of math and science students that are geared towards holistic development of students. This includes social, spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical development of its members. Equally important objective of the organization is the enhancement of the students’ talent in the field of math and science through related activities, trainings, seminars, and symposia.


b. College of Business Administration, Tourism, Computer Science, and 
     HRM (CBATCH)

  • Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management Society (THRMS)

              To resume and reinvigorate as well as reunite the students of HRM is the main objective of this organization whose active participation from different categories in the prestigious “Chefs on Parade” had brought home honors and prestige. This is held annually at the Philippine International Convention Center.

  • Junior Philippine Computer Science Society-Olivarez College Chapter (JPCS-OC)

              An academic organization composed of Computer Science students bound by a common vision of improving the quality of Computer Science graduates. Among its objectives are conducting seminars, workshops and on-the-job training as well as strengthening their commitment for building a strong nation.

  • Business Administration Society of Olivarez College (BASOC)

              An organization geared in extending assistance or services to any individual and institution by setting out charitable programs as well as promoting goodwill, foster camaraderie among students as well as developing progressive skills in the service and technology of business management and marketing.

c. College of Health Related Sciences (CHRS)

  • Nursing Council (NC)

              An academic, non-stock, non-profit organization whose objectives include fostering unity, camaraderie, and harmonious relationships among its members as well as assisting the College in its health promotions and safety procedures to carry out worthy and legitimate projects which would be of service not only within the campus but to the entire Olivarian community.

  • Physical Therapy Society (PTS)

              A disability oriented organization whose goals aside from developing camaraderie and friendship among the P.T. students is to help its members understand the status of the disabled Filipino through P.T. related activities and seminars hoping to increase awareness of its members regarding the plight of their disabled Filipino brothers.

  • Roentgen Club (Radiologic Technology)

              To foster educational advancement in the field of Radiology, to serve as an instrument for gradual exposures of the students in their specialized field and to develop civic consciousness and discipline among its member are some of its objectives.

  • Stork Organization (Midwifery)

              An organization whose main purpose is to participate actively in the outreach program in the community in rendering health services to the people especially the less privileged and exhibit patronage to the Filipino cultural heritage.


II. EXTRA-CURRICULAR ORGANIZATION

  • Olivarez College Supreme Student Government (OC-SSG)

              The highest ranking student organization and policy-making body of the student as well as the student organizations and student activities are concerned. It is also the umbrella organization of all recognized clubs and organization in the school. The Olivarez College - Supreme Student Government (OC-SSG) has the right to implement its own policies and plans for purposes of carrying its objectives and principle subject to the rules and regulations prescribed by the CHED and the VP Academics and Services of Olivarez College.

  • The Olivarian Echo (OE)

              The official school organ composed of qualified and responsible staff members from different colleges whose state of policy is to uphold and protect the freedom of press even at the campus level and to promote the development and growth of campus journalism as means of strengthening ethical values, encouraging critical and creative thinking, and developing moral character and personal discipline of the Filipino youth.

  • Student Assistant Society (SAS)

              An organization designed for bonafide resident of District 1 of Parañaque City who belongs to the lower income family.  Full support of the administration is given in the form of incentives, allowance and job placements to prepare them to become more useful and responsible members of their own community.

  • Graduating Class Club

              An organization formed by senior students whose main objective is to develop loyalty to their Alma Matter, to be united, and to be off service not only to their school but to the entire community as well.

  • Honor Society
  • Community Outreach and Campus Ministry Society (COCMS)
  • Olivarez College Performing Arts Group

The official dance group of Olivarez College. It is also an organization that develops leadership, talents, skills and creativity among all members, enhancing the students’ aesthetic sensitivity towards performing arts and promoting Olivarian talents through competition.

OLIVAREZ COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (OCAA)

        The, Olivarez College Alumni Association (OCAA), is a non-stock, non-profit organization established to undertake educational, social, civic, and other similar programs with the end view of fulfilling the ideals of Olivarez College in accordance with the by-laws and rules thereof. The operation of the association, rely mainly on the alumni fee paid by graduates, donations, gifts, and bequests from its members.

Philosophy and Objectives

  1. To unite into one body all alumni of Olivarez College, from Grade School to Graduate School and keep alive the teachings and spirit of Olivarian philosophy, goals, and objectives;
  2. To strengthen the ties between the school and the alumni and their families and continue to assist the school in its various undertakings;
  3. To serve as the center in the exchange of information related to placement and occupational opportunities;
  4. To make available services in the interest of the general welfare:
  5. To grant scholarship to deserving student;
  6. To render moral and spiritual upliftment of the members; and
  7. To foster camaraderie and brotherhood.

Services Offered:

  • Annual Reunions, Communication through “Alumni Updates” (publication), Alumni Follow-Up Questionnaires, letters, e-mails.
  • Alumni Directory;
  • Scholarships;
  • Mortuary Assistance;
  • Serve as a center in their exchange of occupation / information and placement among alumni;
  • Discounts and Privileges in certain services and establishments;
  • Contribution to the different sectors of the academic community and even the outside community; and
  • Cardholders can enter the school premises and use of its facilities.
