COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

The College of Arts and Sciences, cognizant to the mission-vision of Olivarez College is committed to the holistic formation of the student. It believes that the goal of the College is to develop and expound the intellectual, spiritual, moral, and physical capacity of the student. It subscribes to the conviction that education contributes to the realization of national and global development.

The College realizes the need to maximize the optimum utilization of the resources that provide quality education imbued in the philosophy and objectives of the school.
Specifically, it aims to:

  1. Equip students with professional competence in their field of study to become productive members of the society;
  2. Develop a healthy self-concept and social consciousness to function adequately in a world marked by rapid scientific, technological and social changes;

BACHELOR OF ARTS

Major in Mass Communication

Anchored in the mission-vision of the school, the program seeks to provide students with quality educational and experiential background to become outstanding contributors and leaders in the field of mass communication.

Specifically, this programs aims to:

  1. Produce highly qualified mass media practitioners, communication teachers, and other professionals in communication-related fields;
  2. Develop advanced skill competencies in different areas of mass communication;
  3. Enhance interdisciplinary and specialized knowledge in the different areas of mass communication;
  4. Develop advanced communication research skills among mass media practitioners, communication teachers, and other professionals in communication-related fields;
  5. Address the need of the mass media industry and  private and public institutions for highly skilled and specialized manpower; and
  6. Promote the Filipino culture through the mass media by providing specialists in the various fields of media work.

Major in Political Science

In the premise of the mission-vision of the school, the program endeavors to commit a holistic formation of students responsive to the needs of the national and global realities. It provides quality education accessible to political science students.
Specifically, this program aims to:

  1. Produce highly qualified Political Science graduates  and other professionals related  to this field;
  2. Enable students acquire competence in social and political sciences in preparation for law school;
  3. Strengthen students’ competence in social and political science for a career in government service;
  4. Help students develop awareness of the prevailing conditions happening in the community and in the country;
  5. Foster community involvement and commitment through research and extension services; and
  6. Promote Filipino culture through profound understanding of man as a social being.

Major in Psychology

Inspired by the mission-vision of the school, the program intends to help students to formulate a personal interpretation of human behavior which is compatible with the Christian concept of personality supported by the experimental data of a sound and scientific psychology.

Specifically, this program seeks to:

  1. Provide students with basic and advanced knowledge of psychological theories, principles, and laws, to make them scientifically prepared in theory, research, and practice;
  2. Prepare students to become potential human resource assets in various settings;
  3. Produce young professionals who are conscious of  Christian values and ethical requirements in the practice of the profession;
  4. Manifest healthy self-concept that promotes congenial interpersonal relationship in the profession;
  5. Equip the students with scientific discipline in the practice of Psychology  that will develop their self-confidence in facing varied human realities, especially with people in distress; and
  6. Encourage students to harness their skills and attitudes necessary for engaging in research.

 


COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Animated by the Olivarian philosophy of education, the program commits to inculcate a passion for excellence. As a catalyst for change, it instills concern for quality education geared towards national and global competitiveness.

Specifically, this program aims to:

  1. Develop globally competent future educators who are physically, intellectually, morally, socially, and emotionally prepared to fulfill their commitment to their profession and able to bring about a better life for the people who are open and responsive to the challenges  of  time;
  2. Equip students with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values needed for effective and efficient teaching;
  3. Provide professional and technical training through  academic and non-academic requirements with the cooperation of the laboratory schools and other linkages;
  4. Provide training in research relevant to teacher education and other fields needed in effecting positive change in  society;
  5. Develop the traits of an educator consistent with the institution's thrust of excellence, professionalism, and service;
  6. Develop pedagogical knowledge and skills that are essential to an effective synthesizer of knowledge and efficient promoter and facilitator of learning.

Bachelor of Elementary Education
       
        Embraced with the Olivarian Philosophy of education and the underpinning Education Department objectives, more specifically, the Bachelor of Elementary Education aims to:

  1. Provide the needs of globally competent professional teachers for elementary and preschools in the Philippines and abroad who are intellectually, physically, morally, socially and emotionally equipped to fulfill their teaching professions;
  2. Prepare elementary and preschool teachers to become efficient promoter and facilitator of learning in the light of their field of specialization abreast with pedagogical principles that would enable the learners to develop to the fullest their potentials concomitant to a continuing pursuit of life long learning.
  3. Produce committed elementary and preschool educators whose clear understanding and appreciation of human ideals, global perspectives, and Filipino cultural values would inspire learners towards self-realization with Christian outlook in life and human aspiration.

Bachelor of Secondary Education

        Embraced with the Olivarian Philosophy of education and the underpinning Education Department objectives, more specifically, the Bachelor of Secondary Education aims to:

  1. Provide the needs of globally competent professional teachers for   Secondary schools in the Philippines and abroad who are intellectually, physically, morally, socially and emotionally equipped to fulfill their teaching professions;
  2. Prepare secondary  teachers to become efficient promoter and facilitator of learning in the light of their field of specialization abreast with pedagogical principles that would enable the learners to develop to the fullest their potentials concomitant to a continuing pursuit of life long learning.
  3. Produce committed secondary educators whose clear understanding and appreciation of human ideals, global perspectives, and Filipino cultural values would inspire learners towards self-realization with Christian outlook in life and human aspiration.

 


COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

In the basis of Olivarian philosophy of education, the program believes that students should be equipped with knowledge and skills essential for successful careers in today’s complex business world. It provides quality education aligned with the business curriculum.

Specifically, this program seeks to:

  1. Enhance learning experiences that prepare future leaders and managers for careers in all types of business organizations;
  2. Develop up-to-date knowledge and intuitive insights in business and management theories and practice;
  3. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the key aspects of business strategies;
  4. Explain and demonstrate the concept of business and professional integrity and demonstrate ability to take  responsibilities;
  5. Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of a full range of theories necessary for good business and non-business entities; and
  6. Apply knowledge in the professional practice of good governance of business and non-business entities.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

In reference to the Olivarian philosophy of education, the program aims to provide quality education and training that empower students to imbibe values for national and global competitiveness.

Specifically, this program aims to:

  1. Develop an understanding of basic computer architecture and operations;
  2. Become qualified and well-rounded computer professionals who can develop systems supportive of the information needs of industry and government using computer-based data processing system;
  3. Develop individuals who will undertake the search for knowledge and apply this to Philippine realities;
  4. Develop the ability to work effectively as an individual or as a team member to produce correct, efficient, well-organized and documented programs in a reasonable time;
  5. Be deeply imbued with Christian principles and values committed in applying these in business operations; and
  6. Explore the use of computer for real-time processing and by adopting hardware technologies to third world realities by looking at micro-processors, digital signal processors, and micro-processors interfacing.

Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management

In reference to the Olivarian philosophy of education, the program aims to provide quality education and training that empower students to imbibe values for national and global competitiveness.

Specifically, this program aims to:

  1. Expose students to the latest trends in the  hotel and restaurant industry;
  2. Apply acquired knowledge and to develop competitiveness in the field of hotel and restaurant industry;
  3. Broaden one's horizon through social interaction and self-actualization;
  4. Develop in the students a deep understanding of the theories and principles of the hotel and restaurant industry;
  5. Plan, establish and operate "test" kitchen to serve as its laboratory for the research and testing of recipes acceptable to people in the area; and
  6. Assume responsibility for the reception, accommodation, and entertainment of the guests of the institution.

Bachelor of Science in Tourism

In reference to the Olivarian philosophy of education, the program aims to provide quality education and training that empower students to imbibe values for national and global competitiveness.

Specifically, this program aims to:

  1. Acquire necessary skills for management positions in various tourism industries;
  2. apply to theories, concepts, and principles in tourism to the operations industries such as hotels, resorts, travel agencies, airlines, and transport industry; and
  3. Train students to become industrious, patient and self-directed in the pursuit of their duties and responsibilities.

The CHRS aims to develop a fully functioning Christian health care professional who live with Christian values who:

  2. Demonstrate critical and creative thinking;
  3. Practice legal, ethic-moral, social responsibility and accountability;
  4. Possess managerial skills to plan, organize, direct and evaluate health programs in coordination with other health professionals; and
  5. Participate actively in the professional development activities for the growth of the profession

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

aims to produce graduates who:

  1. Manifest caring behavior in dealing with clients at any developmental stage in a variety of health care settings;
  2. Demonstrate clinical thinking in the performance of their professional duties and responsibilities;
  3. Utilize the nursing process in the delivery of health care to the individual, family and community;
  4. Participate actively in outreach programs in the community to enhance the delivery of health services to the people especially the less privileged;
  5. Participate in continuing education program through graduate studies and research to uplift oneself and the nursing profession; and
  6. Adhere to the Code of Ethics of Nurses in the practice of the profession which includes moral, legal, spiritual responsibility.

Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

aims to produce graduates who

  1. Posses the competencies of physical therapy practitioners in any given health setting;
  2. Demonstrate critical thinking and innovativeness in giving therapeutic care to all patients under their care;
  3. Develop inter-disciplinary attitudes among members of the rehabilitation team;
  4. Participate actively in community-based rehabilitation programs;
  5. Attend continuing professional education programs in both formal and non-formal settings; and
  6. Adhere to the ethico-moral, legal, and spiritual responsibilities and accountabilities.

Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology

aims to produce graduates who

  1. Demonstrate the competencies of X-Ray / Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of radiation;
  2. Participate actively in continuing education programs and research to enrich professional development;
  3. Adhere to legal, ethico-moral and social responsibilities and accountabilities in handling radiation;
  4. Collaborate with other members of the health team for an effective and efficient delivery of services; and
  5. Participate in outreach programs of the community to enhance the delivery of health services to the people especially the less privileged.

Graduate in Midwifery

aims to produce graduates who

  1. Attend to the health needs of the child-bearing family;
  2. Participate in the promotion of health and in the prevention of illness;
  3. Participate in continuing education programs through seminars, workshops, and conferences to uplift the midwifery profession;
  4. Participate actively in outreach programs of the community, thus enhancing the health service delivery to the people especially the less privileged; and
  5. Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Midwifery profession and manifest profound adherence to the virtues of love, justice, and truth.
